Zavala
There are many beaches on this side of Hvar, bigger and smaller pebble beaches, along the shore, and places where you can find your privacy or just walk. There is a small Island of Scedro right across the channel, a little paradise for wind surfers.
The Island of Hvar is about 80km long.
You can go to Split and there take a ferry to Stari Grad to reach the Island of Hvar.It takes about 15 minutes with the car from the port of Stari Grad to Jelsa (about 10km), and another 15 min from Jelsa to Zavala. You can also go to Drvenik (a bit further to the south) and take a ferry Drvenik - Sucuraj. In high season there is a possibility of taking a ferry liner from Rijeka to Stari Grad, from Ancona, Italy to Stari Grad, and from Pescara, Italy a fast catamaran ferry to Stari Grad.
